Intermediate Alignment is designed for the alignment technician wanting to be updated on the latest alignment technology. Topics include an in-depth study of the alignment angles, aftermarket adjustments and modified vehicle alignment.
Course Objectives - By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Level 1
- Describe camber, caster, toe and thrust angel and the related effects these angles have on tire wear and vehicle handling.
- Perform proper pre-alignment inspection of the suspension and steering systems, including ride height assessment.
- Set up the aligner and accurately measure the primary alignment angles.
- Perform a four-wheel alignment using the most common OEM adjustments methods found on today's vehicles using SLA and strut suspension systems.
- Demonstrate how to use the patented WinToe program to adjust toe.
- Demonstrate how to use the Control Arm Monitor Movement program when adjusting control arms.
- Demonstrate how to use "Raise Selected Axel" to make adjustments.
- Level 2
- Demonstrate how to use the Shim Select II and Automatic Brushing Calculator programs.
- Demonstrate the use of the wheel off adapter and live ride height targets.
- Perform alignment procedures and formulate solutions when aligning "modified vehicles"
using Hunter equipment.
- Describe the influence of ride height alteration, wheel offset, weight distribution and spring rating.
- Describe the basic principles related to spindle leverage, center of gravity, roll center, frame angle and scrub radius.
- Perform or describe the procedure used for a four-wheel alignment using aftermarket adjustment methods available for today's vehicles.
- Be able to modify and save specialized alignment specifications.
- Describe the influence of stability and collision avoidance systems on alignment procedures.
Alignment Diagnostics (Level 3)
